“The dragon is awakening.

Mr Sam Tshabalala, newly appointed Municipal Manager for Emfuleni Municipality, will receive R 1,6 million per year salary, exclude performance bonusses.
The mayor approved the salary of the new Municipal Manager on own accord after the matter was unsuccessfully dealt with in two remuneration committee meetings.
The five Deputy Municipal Managers and CFO already appointed, cost Council a further R6 million per annum.
IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND WHY NOT ENOUGH MONEY IS AVAILABLE IN THE EMFULENI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TO DELIVER PROPER SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY.
"Minister Sicelo Shiceka, Minister for Provincial and Local Government, warned against high salaries for municipal employees, yet Emfuleni continues to pay excessive high salaries". |
